Before you start
Filling in this form does not enroll you in the study and does not commit you to anything.
If you are offered a place, you will get the full consent form, and it will be reviewed with you before anything begins.
You do not have to wait to see the consent form. You can read it before you fill in anything here.
- Whether you meet the eligibility rules, including your age, your connection to a Cal State LA Information Systems program, and whether you are preparing for or seeking an entry-level role.
- Which days and times you could meet.
- Your name and email.
It does not ask about your grades, your finances, or anything sensitive.
Why availability matters. The meeting schedule will be picked to work for the largest number of eligible volunteers. If more eligible people are free at that time than there are places, selection is random. That is why the form asks about times in detail.
- Access to your screening responses will be limited to the researcher and faculty supervisor as needed for eligibility review and scheduling. The cloud service provider will also process and store this information to operate the screening form.
- They are stored using a managed cloud database and storage service with access controls and encryption.
- Screening responses will be used to determine eligibility, coordinate scheduling, and communicate selection outcomes. With your permission, your contact information may also be retained to contact you about a later cohort.
If you do not enroll, your identifiable screening responses will be deleted from active storage within 90 days after recruitment for this cohort ends, except records needed to document recruitment.
If you give permission, only your name, email address, and permission to contact you will be kept for future cohort invitations. This contact list will be deleted when recruitment for the study ends, or earlier if you ask to be removed. Your eligibility and availability will be checked again for a later cohort.
Deletion from active storage may not immediately remove information from provider backups. Backup handling will follow the provider’s documented retention procedures.
Seven in-person meetings of about two hours, every other week from February 8 to May 3, plus roughly one to two hours a week between meetings. There is no fee, and nothing you are required to buy. You cover your own transportation, parking, and usual internet costs.
Screening is expected to open in November 2026, once the required approvals and site permissions are in place, and closes on January 7, 2027.
If you are currently in a course Maria teaches or grades, please come back on or after December 24, 2026, once final grades have been submitted.
Everyone who applies by January 7 is considered together. Applying earlier does not improve your chances.
Screening is voluntary. You can stop at any point. Choosing not to screen, or not being selected, has no effect on your grades, your standing, or your access to any university service.
